The human voice and a nation!

The human voice and a nation!

Language is so important to every human individually and to all humans collectively in order to compose their society altogether.
Language consists of words and every word represents a meaning.

Regarding words now, each word consists of symbols (letters) and these symbols are connected to certain sounds that bring the word to life by the human voice.
Unfortunately nowadays, many words lost their true meaning which is something that causes miscommunication within the human societies.
Two words whose meaning I find very important are the words “voice” and “nation”. In Greek language, the respective words are “ΦΩΝΗ” (foni with Latin characters) and “ΕΘΝΟΣ” (ethnos).
Why did I choose these two words?
I chose them because they are widely used in other languages as well and I would like to show their deeper meaning.
The first word for voice (foni) is known with the following spelling: “phone” and it is associated with the word “telephone” which literally means “voice (phone) from far (tele)”.
What does the word “phone” actually mean though?
As a musician and especially a performer, I always analyse a musical piece that I intend to bring to life with sounds. Additionally, voice is a great musical instrument. Therefore, I would like to show why our voice matters not only to music but in our societies too.
Here, I would like to mention that in ancient Greek language the components that constitute a word and consequently a language are substantial. More specifcally, the symbols are first of all geometrical shapes which shape the sound and diction of each symbol and they serve a certain purpose, which is the overall meaning of the word.
If we are to take the word “phone”, we will see that this specific word consists of two syllables: “pho” and “ne”. The first syllable comes from the word “ΦΩΣ” (fos) which means “light” and the second syllable comes from the word Nous, which means Mind. We need to note here that when a word contains the symbol “N”, this word is immediately connected to the word Nous (Mind), according to ancient Greek. Also, if someone continually pronounces the letter “N”, he will notice that the upper part of his head is vibrating, meaning that the brain is activated. Someone may argue that other symbols activate the brain in the same way, but here we need to state the geometrical shape of the symbol “N” and its relation with the symbol “S”, shown in the pages attached. Both symbols share similarities. They are in fact the same symbol, but they are rotated differently upon the paper. Both symbols lock the word “Nous” and protect the vowels that are within the word “Nous”. According to Greek language, nothing is by chance. There is a specific reason regarding the aspects of a language, both written and spoken.
If we put together the entire word, we will notice something inspiring: Phone = The Light of the Mind. And this is how it should be. Our words, our voice should always inspire.
Now, regarding the second word (nation), the respective Greek word is “Ethnos”. This word is used widely in other languages as well, mostly in the following form: "ethnic".
What is an “Ethnos” though? And how is it connected to the word voice (phone)?
“ΕΘΝΟΣ” (or Ethnos with Latin characters) consists of two syllables as well: “Eth” and “Nos”. We can easily recognise the second syllable “Nos” which reminds us of the word “Nous”, namely Mind.
What is the first syllable now?
The first syllable comes from the word “Ethics” or “Ethos” meaning “morality”. Moral values are so important for our societies and how for our societies may function properly and harmoniously.
Now, if we put them together we will see the following result: Ethnos = Ethical Mind.
If we are to talk with musical terms, I would like to analyse the second word in a Schenkerian way, namely show the fundamental and deep structure/meaning of this particular word. The pictures attached will help us in our analysis.
The pictures show to us the three-line or the five-line structure of the word, meaning the trinity and the quintessence of the word “Ethnos”. Regarding the trinity-structure I would like to think that this word speaks to us with the 3 basic components of music: Melody – Rhythm – Harmony. Each one’s voice (melody) contributes to the nation, which is characterised by harmony (ethics) and rhythm (A mind which is the beating heart, the pulse). Actually, you may think any combination of these three you want. Imagine that “Ethnos” is a symphony, because “symphony” means the “unity of voices”.
Regarding the five-line structure, we see the five symbols which constitute the word. More specifically, we see the word “Ethos” which protects the “Mind” and its symbol “N” exactly in the center of the word.
I wrote this not to brag about my Greek heritage. I wrote this because both words belong to every human upon this planet, because every human has a voice and every human deserves to live in a harmonious society, a society that gives a healthy rhythm and pace to our every-day life.
I wrote this because every voice matters in this world and every voice must be heard. Cause we are humans first of all and we deserve to live in harmo-ny.
So the next time you use these words, recognise their deeper meaning first and do not use them only because you want to call your fellow being or want to racially discriminate someone’s ethnicity and ethnical background, which is something very unethical to do anyway.
Use them wisely. Use them in order to enlighten and inspire the people around you. Use them in order to unite the people around you, because humanity is above all.
Lastly, there are some pictures that show the geometric background of the symbols. Due to their geometric nature, they can create geometrical drawing figures. Therefore you can imagine your words within a 3-dimensional environment both in a written and oral aspect. Regarding the picture no. 1, we can see how the symbols “N” and “S” when united they form a «Δ» “Delta shape”. I mention this because the word “Democracy” begins with the letter “Delta”. Hopefully, the color-coding will help.
P.S. The person who inspired me to write this and guides me every day is in prison for almost 15 months. His name is Artemis Sorras. He taught me things that they do not teach you at school. He reminded to all of us the true meaning of Democracy and he fights for its restoration. However, they keep him in prison with no charges, but he continues to inspire us even behind the bars.
